About the role

A 3D animator for games creates movement that must look convincing, communicate clearly and respond well during play. The panel will assess your animation fundamentals, technical understanding and ability to improve work with designers and engineers.

How to prepare

  1. Choose portfolio pieces that show body mechanics, gameplay readability and a range of movement.
  2. Prepare to explain what you animated, what others contributed and how the work changed after feedback.
  3. Review locomotion blending, transitions, root motion and common causes of foot sliding.
  4. Think through how timing choices affect responsiveness and player control.
  5. Prepare an example of simplifying animation work to meet engine or production constraints.

Common mistakes

  • Discussing visual polish without explaining how the animation feels during play.
  • Claiming team work without separating your contribution from that of riggers or technical artists.
  • Ignoring engine constraints, transitions and blend behaviour.
  • Showing portfolio work without explaining the problem, feedback or iteration.
