About the role
This interview tests how you would support crop experiments in the field and keep their records dependable. The panel is looking for basic agronomy knowledge, careful measurement, respect for the trial design and a practical response when weather or field conditions change.
How to prepare
- Revise controls, replication, treatment plots and the purpose of randomisation in a crop trial.
- Practise explaining how you would measure plant emergence, height, pest damage and yield consistently.
- Review common signs of water stress, nutrient problems, pests and disease without claiming a diagnosis too quickly.
- Prepare an example of careful fieldwork or data recording from an academic project.
- Think through how rain, damaged labels or uneven plots can affect an experiment.
Common mistakes
- Treating every difference between plots as proof that a treatment worked.
- Guessing missing measurements instead of recording the problem and asking for guidance.
- Describing crop symptoms confidently without considering weather, soil or measurement error.
- Ignoring safe working practices because the role is at intern level.
