About the role
This interview tests how you connect software to payment and financial services through APIs. The panel is looking for sound HTTP knowledge, careful handling of credentials and transactions, and a methodical approach to integration faults.
How to prepare
- Revise HTTP methods, status codes, headers, JSON payloads and common authentication methods.
- Practise tracing a failed request through client logs, API logs and webhook delivery records.
- Learn why idempotency, timeouts and retry rules matter when money is moving.
- Prepare an example of an API you built, consumed or tested and explain your contribution.
- Review how to keep secrets and sensitive customer data out of source control and logs.
Common mistakes
- Treating every successful HTTP response as proof that the financial transaction completed.
- Suggesting blind retries without considering duplicate charges or transfers.
- Ignoring authentication, signature checks or sensitive information in logs.
