About the role

This interview focuses on operating an industrial boiler within approved limits and reacting safely when readings change. The panel is looking for disciplined routines, awareness of water condition and combustion, and clear escalation when a trip or uncertain indication occurs.

How to prepare

  1. Revise the approved sequence for boiler pre-start checks, firing, normal running and shutdown.
  2. Review the purpose of gauge glasses, pressure controls, low-water protection and safety valves.
  3. Practise explaining the signs and risks of poor feedwater condition, scale and carryover.
  4. Think through a safe response to low water, flame failure, a leak or an unusual pressure rise.
  5. Prepare to describe how accurate readings support the next shift and maintenance team.

Common mistakes

  • Describing repeated resets without finding why a protective trip operated.
  • Relying on one doubtful level indication instead of treating the condition cautiously.
  • Discussing boiler efficiency while overlooking water quality and safety controls.
