About the role
A business analyst works out what the business needs and turns it into clear requirements, process maps and recommendations backed by data. You sit between business teams and IT, making sure what gets built solves the real problem. The panel is checking your analysis, communication and structure.
How to prepare
- Prepare a project where you gathered requirements and explain how you handled conflicting ones.
- Practise drawing a simple current and future process map for a familiar process.
- Be ready to explain how you turn data into a recommendation a manager can act on.
- Think through how you explain business needs to developers and technical limits to managers.
- Know how you confirm that a delivered change actually solved the problem.
Common mistakes
- Writing down what people ask for without finding the real need behind it.
- Using heavy jargon when the panel wants plain explanations.
- Having no example of handling disagreement between stakeholders.
