About this interview
A Canada study permit interview may be used to check whether your study purpose, finances and temporary plans are credible. The officer is looking for answers that match your application and show that you understand the programme you selected.
How to prepare
- Read your submitted application and be ready to explain every important detail consistently.
- Research the programme structure, institution and how the qualification supports your career direction.
- Prepare a clear account of tuition, living costs and each source of funding.
- Explain why studying in Canada suits your goals better than reasonable alternatives available to you.
- Check the official Canadian immigration site for the current study permit rules and document guidance.
Common mistakes
- Giving a generic reason for Canada without discussing the actual programme.
- Describing funding that does not match the evidence in the application.
- Presenting post-study plans that are vague or inconsistent with the purpose of the permit.
- Guessing about official rules instead of checking the current guidance.
