About the award
This interview is for a Chinese government-style award supporting international postgraduate study. The panel examines the clarity of your study or research purpose, fit with the proposed institution, preparation for a different academic setting and the value of the qualification afterwards. Check the official scholarship and university sites for current requirements, language rules and dates.
How to prepare
- Turn your study interest into a specific objective that fits the level and length of the programme.
- Compare programme content, academic resources and possible supervision at your proposed institutions.
- Prepare examples of adapting to unfamiliar expectations and asking for help effectively.
- Consider how you will communicate, organise daily life and participate in the academic community.
- Check the official scholarship and university sites for current eligibility, language rules and dates.
Common mistakes
- Choosing an institution only for its location or general reputation.
- Presenting a research idea that is too broad for the proposed programme.
- Assuming academic and daily communication will require no preparation.
- Giving no clear purpose for the qualification after graduation.
