About the role
This interview is for an internship supporting the review and processing of health insurance claims. The panel is looking for careful checking, comfort with structured data and respect for confidential medical information. You are not expected to make clinical decisions, but you should know when information is incomplete and when to escalate.
How to prepare
- Review the purpose of member eligibility checks, benefit schedules, provider invoices and pre-authorisation records.
- Practise comparing two records and explaining any mismatch in a clear sequence.
- Prepare an example of accurate data entry or document checking from study, volunteering or work.
- Revise basic principles for keeping health and personal information confidential.
- Think about how you respond when a task requires knowledge or authority you do not yet have.
Common mistakes
- Assuming every provider invoice is automatically covered by the member's plan.
- Changing incomplete claim data without confirming the source.
- Sharing medical information more widely than the task requires.
- Trying to make a clinical judgement instead of referring it appropriately.
