About the role
This interview examines how you turn construction contracts into practical controls for procurement and delivery teams. The panel is looking for careful drafting, disciplined administration, measured dispute judgement and negotiation that deals openly with residual risk.
How to prepare
- Review a contract you negotiated and identify the clauses that most affected delivery risk.
- Prepare an example involving notices, variations, delay or payment where the records mattered.
- Think through how you explain contract obligations to site staff who are not contract specialists.
- Choose a dispute you helped avoid or resolve and be precise about your own recommendation.
- Practise describing how risks move between the main contract, subcontracts and insurance arrangements.
Common mistakes
- Reciting clauses without connecting them to project decisions or evidence.
- Assuming that a late or weak notice should automatically be ignored without proper analysis.
- Promising to transfer every risk regardless of price, capability or enforceability.
- Letting legal terminology obscure a clear recommendation to the delivery team.
