About the role
This interview covers the development and oversight of scores used in digital lending decisions. The panel is assessing statistical rigour, credit judgement, model monitoring and your ability to explain why a score is useful, fair and safe to operate.
How to prepare
- Review feature selection, leakage, sampling, reject bias and score calibration.
- Prepare a model example with its target definition, validation approach and limitations.
- Revisit measures of model discrimination, stability and realised default performance.
- Think through affordability, credit policy cut-offs and treatment of thin-file borrowers.
- Practise explaining a technical score decision to a credit committee.
Common mistakes
- Using variables that would not be available at the decision point.
- Judging a model from discrimination alone while ignoring calibration and portfolio outcomes.
- Treating a lower cut-off as only a growth decision.
- Failing to document assumptions, exclusions and model limitations.
