About the role
This interview covers the consulting work around data, not just the mechanics of a query or dashboard. The panel wants to see how you frame business questions, test data quality, choose useful analysis and communicate what the evidence does and does not show.
How to prepare
- Choose an analytics project and practise connecting the original business question to the final recommendation.
- Review the SQL techniques you use for joins, duplicates, missing values and reconciliations.
- Prepare an example where a data quality issue changed your method or conclusion.
- Critique one dashboard for hierarchy, clarity and usefulness to a decision maker.
- Practise explaining analytical uncertainty without burying the main insight.
Common mistakes
- Starting with a preferred tool before clarifying the client's question.
- Cleaning away unusual records without checking whether they reveal a real issue.
- Equating correlation with a proven cause.
- Presenting a crowded dashboard without a clear decision or audience in mind.
