About the programme
This interview considers whether you understand diagnostic radiography as both a technical and patient-facing profession. The panel looks for careful communication, respect for safety and dignity, and an interest in using imaging to answer a clinical question rather than technology for its own sake.
How to prepare
- Learn the broad purposes of common imaging methods and the radiographer's part in each examination.
- Review basic principles of patient identification, radiation safety, consent and confidentiality.
- Prepare an example of remaining calm while helping someone who felt anxious or uncomfortable.
- Think about how anatomy, physics and communication all contribute to a useful image.
- Practise answering scenarios by stating what you would check and when you would seek supervision.
Common mistakes
- Focusing on machines while overlooking the person undergoing the examination.
- Suggesting that speed is more important than identity checks or safe exposure.
- Assuming that anxious patients are being difficult instead of exploring their concern.
