About the role
This interview tests whether you can keep engineering records complete, current and easy to retrieve. The panel cares about revision discipline, accurate registers and transmittals, timely follow-up and careful handling of confidential project information.
How to prepare
- Revise document numbers, revisions, statuses, transmittals, distribution lists and master registers.
- Practise describing how an incoming drawing moves from receipt to controlled distribution.
- Prepare an example of finding and correcting a filing, naming or data-entry error.
- Review spreadsheet sorting, filtering, validation and duplicate checks.
- Think through how you would remove superseded copies from active use while preserving the record.
Common mistakes
- Treating a changed filename as proof that the correct revision was issued.
- Deleting superseded documents instead of retaining them according to the project process.
- Sending documents without recording recipients, dates and transmittal details.
- Focusing on filing speed while missing an incorrect number, revision or approval status.
