About the role
An event production assistant helps translate a brief into an event that works on the day. The panel wants evidence that you can maintain schedules, communicate with suppliers, spot missing details and respond sensibly when conditions change.
How to prepare
- Practise building a simple run sheet that covers setup, rehearsals, guest arrival and pack-down.
- Prepare an example of coordinating a school, community, volunteer or paid event.
- Review how you would record supplier contacts, deliveries and outstanding actions.
- Think through backup plans for weather, traffic, power or equipment delays.
- Research the usual guest journey from arrival through departure.
Common mistakes
- Focusing only on the creative idea and overlooking timings, access or guest flow.
- Waiting too long to escalate a supplier or safety problem.
- Giving vague answers without naming the checks, owners and backup options you would use.
