About the role
This interview tests how you turn customer insight and trading data into a commercially sound womenswear range. The panel will look for confident product judgement, numerical reasoning, supplier negotiation and control of the buying critical path. Strong answers connect creative choices to stock risk, margin and the customer.
How to prepare
- Review a range you bought and be ready to explain its customer, architecture, pricing and performance.
- Practise interpreting sales, sell-through, margin, weeks of cover and size-level stock information.
- Prepare an example of negotiating cost, minimum quantities, quality or delivery with a supplier.
- Map the buying critical path from initial brief through sampling, approvals, production and delivery.
- Study how seasonality, climate and local occasions can affect a womenswear assortment.
Common mistakes
- Talking about trends without linking them to a defined customer and sales evidence.
- Focusing on unit cost while ignoring margin, stock exposure and markdown risk.
