About the role
This interview tests how you keep a working fleet safe, available and cost conscious through each shift. The panel is looking for sound dispatch decisions, disciplined records, practical maintenance coordination and fair supervision of drivers.
How to prepare
- Review how you allocate vehicles and drivers when demand exceeds safe fleet capacity.
- Prepare an example of reducing fuel use, downtime or avoidable repair cost.
- Revise the steps you follow after a collision, breakdown or serious driver complaint.
- Choose fleet measures that show availability, utilisation, fuel performance and maintenance status.
- Practise explaining how you address unsafe or unreliable driver behaviour.
Common mistakes
- Keeping a vehicle in service after a safety-critical fault has been reported.
- Blaming drivers before checking fuel, route, load and maintenance evidence.
- Listing measures without explaining the decisions they support.
- Treating maintenance and operations as competing teams instead of coordinating both.
