About the role
A fleet safety manager protects drivers, vehicles, cargo and other road users while transport operations continue to meet service needs. The panel is testing whether you can investigate incidents, control journey risks, improve driver behaviour and stand firm when unsafe pressure arises.
How to prepare
- Review your method for investigating collisions and distinguishing immediate causes from management failures.
- Prepare an example of how telematics, inspection or incident data led to a specific safety action.
- Think through fatigue, speeding, reversing, load security and vehicle fitness controls for mixed fleets.
- Be ready to explain how you coach a driver while maintaining fair and documented standards.
Common mistakes
- Focusing only on driver blame and ignoring scheduling, supervision, vehicle condition or route design.
- Describing training as the answer to every incident without identifying the actual control gap.
- Using safety language without showing how you make difficult dispatch decisions in practice.
