About the role

This interview focuses on how you plan and lead safe, engaging exercise classes for people with different experience and fitness levels. The panel will listen for precise cueing, good observation, practical modifications and a member experience that is encouraging rather than intimidating.

How to prepare

  1. Build a sample class plan with a warm-up, main work, transitions and a cool-down.
  2. Practise giving short verbal and visual cues for several common movements.
  3. Prepare regressions and progressions that preserve the purpose of each exercise.
  4. Review how you respond to dizziness, pain, equipment problems and an overcrowded studio.
  5. Think of an example where member feedback improved your class delivery.

Common mistakes

  • Planning intensity for the strongest members and treating everyone else as an afterthought.
  • Giving long explanations while the class is waiting or already moving.
  • Relying on energy and music while missing unsafe technique.
  • Diagnosing injuries or giving advice beyond your professional scope.
