About the role
This interview tests your ability to lead the regulatory agenda of a power business at executive level. The panel is looking for strategic judgement, defensible submissions, strong compliance governance and credible engagement when commercial needs, service obligations and public trust pull in different directions.
How to prepare
- Review how tariff, service-quality, reporting and investment obligations interact in a regulated power business.
- Prepare a regulatory position you shaped using legal, operational, customer and financial evidence.
- Practise explaining how you validate source data and reconcile competing inputs before a formal submission.
- Think through executive escalation for a repeated breach, including containment, remediation and assurance.
- Prepare an example of preserving a regulator relationship while disagreeing on a material decision.
Common mistakes
- Treating regulatory affairs as document filing instead of a strategic leadership responsibility.
- Presenting a position that is commercially attractive but unsupported by reliable evidence.
- Blaming operational teams for breaches without establishing accountable remediation and assurance.
- Taking an adversarial tone when a firm, evidence-based disagreement would be more effective.
