About the role
This interview covers the operational and clinical judgement behind health insurance claims. You may be tested on adjudication, provider disputes, suspicious patterns, backlog recovery and reviewer consistency. The panel wants firm controls alongside fair treatment of members and providers.
How to prepare
- Review a structured claims adjudication process from receipt through payment or denial.
- Prepare an example of an unusual pattern you investigated using claims data.
- Think through how you would distinguish missing documentation from an invalid claim.
- Practise explaining a deduction or denial in plain language with a clear review route.
- Prepare a backlog recovery plan that includes accuracy checks and provider communication.
Common mistakes
- Calling an unusual claim fraudulent before completing a fair investigation.
- Focusing only on fast payment and ignoring accuracy or benefit rules.
- Quoting policy wording without explaining the decision to the member or provider.
- Treating every provider dispute as a relationship problem rather than checking the evidence.
