About the role
A legal operations manager makes legal work easier to request, deliver, measure and improve. The panel will test how you combine process design, systems, financial control and change leadership without losing the judgement and confidentiality legal work requires.
How to prepare
- Map a typical legal request from intake to closure and identify where delays or rework arise.
- Prepare an example of introducing a workflow, system or reporting change that users adopted.
- Review approaches to matter coding, outside counsel instructions, invoice review and budget forecasting.
- Choose measures that show service quality, workload, turnaround and spend in context.
- Practise explaining how you would prioritise competing improvement projects with limited resources.
Common mistakes
- Presenting technology as the solution before understanding the workflow problem.
- Using turnaround time as the only measure of legal performance.
- Ignoring how lawyers and business users will adopt a new process.
- Discussing cost reduction without considering quality, risk or matter complexity.
