About the role
This interview examines how you deliver FMCG products reliably despite traffic, vehicle, route and customer constraints. The panel wants evidence that you can balance service, safety and cost, manage external carriers firmly and lead rapid recovery when the daily plan breaks down.
How to prepare
- Prepare a route or network change and explain its effect on service, vehicle use and cost.
- Review the transport measures you use to distinguish planning failures from execution failures.
- Think through disruption responses for road closures, breakdowns, fuel shortages and delayed loading.
- Prepare an example of holding a carrier to account while maintaining essential deliveries.
- Practise explaining a cost increase by its operational drivers rather than by the total alone.
Common mistakes
- Reducing transport cost in a way that creates stock-outs, unsafe journeys or hidden overtime.
- Treating traffic as an explanation instead of planning routes, buffers and escalation rules.
- Managing carriers through informal pressure without clear evidence and agreed standards.
