About the role
This interview is for an engineer responsible for the availability and safe condition of packaging machines. It covers structured fault finding, planned maintenance, repeat failures, spares and communication during downtime. The panel is looking for someone who restores equipment carefully and leaves it more reliable than before.
How to prepare
- Prepare one difficult packaging-machine fault and the evidence that narrowed your diagnosis.
- Review the mechanical, electrical and control components of the equipment you know best.
- Think through how you convert breakdown history into planned-maintenance tasks.
- Prepare a repeat-failure example where the corrective action went beyond replacing a part.
- Practise explaining a repair delay and safe operating options to a production supervisor.
Common mistakes
- Replacing parts before collecting evidence about the failure mode.
- Using a guard bypass as a normal diagnostic method.
- Setting maintenance intervals without equipment history or risk.
- Giving production an optimistic restart time without explaining uncertainty.
