About the role
This interview tests whether you can own a consulting engagement from an unclear client question through to a practical recommendation. The panel will look for structured thinking, commercial control, confident client handling and evidence that you can improve the performance of a consulting team.
How to prepare
- Practise turning a broad business problem into a clear issue tree, hypotheses and workplan.
- Prepare an example of controlling scope, resourcing, quality and risk on a demanding engagement.
- Rehearse a case in which the available data was incomplete or contradictory.
- Choose an example of giving a client a difficult message without damaging the relationship.
- Review how you coach team members and address missed expectations early.
Common mistakes
- Jumping to a solution before defining the client question and testing assumptions.
- Describing analysis without explaining how it changed a client decision.
- Treating scope changes as a scheduling problem rather than a commercial conversation.
- Taking all difficult work back from the team instead of coaching and delegating.
