About this interview
This interview is for graduates entering a factory leadership pipeline. The panel is looking for sound decisions around production, safety and quality, along with the humility to learn from experienced operators and the confidence to act when standards are at risk.
How to prepare
- Learn the basic flow from raw materials to finished goods for the type of factory you are targeting.
- Prepare an example of improving a process using observations or simple data.
- Practise explaining how you would respond to an unsafe act without creating unnecessary conflict.
- Review common causes of downtime, waste and quality defects.
- Choose an example that shows you can lead people who have more practical experience than you do.
Common mistakes
- Putting output ahead of safety or product quality.
- Suggesting a solution before checking facts on the shop floor.
- Speaking as though operators should follow a graduate without question.
- Using improvement terms without explaining the practical change.
