About the role
This interview covers the full monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning function, not only data collection. The panel will assess whether you can build useful systems, defend data quality and ethics, strengthen community feedback and make evidence part of programme management.
How to prepare
- Prepare an example of designing or overhauling a MEAL system for a multi-site programme.
- Review indicator definitions, disaggregation, sampling, verification and data flow controls you have used.
- Think of a complaint or feedback trend that led to a concrete programme change.
- Be ready to explain how you investigate data that looks too consistent or unexpectedly strong.
- Prepare a story about coaching programme staff or partners to use evidence better.
Common mistakes
- Treating reporting compliance as the purpose of MEAL.
- Using technical terms without explaining how the system supports decisions.
- Ignoring consent, confidentiality and safe complaint handling.
- Claiming data quality without describing verification and corrective action.
