About the programme
A medicine multiple mini interview uses a series of short stations rather than one long conversation. Stations may test ethical reasoning, communication, motivation, reflection and safe responses to unfamiliar healthcare situations. Assessors are interested in how you reach a decision as well as the decision itself.
How to prepare
- Practise identifying the people affected, the ethical tension and the information you still need in each scenario.
- Rehearse explaining a health idea in plain language without sounding patronising.
- Review your reasons for medicine and connect them to what you have observed or learned.
- Prepare reflective examples about teamwork, feedback, setbacks and service.
- Practise moving on after a difficult station so it does not affect the next one.
Common mistakes
- Jumping to a firm answer before identifying missing information or competing duties.
- Reciting ethical principles without applying them to the people in the scenario.
- Presenting medicine as heroic work while overlooking routine duties and teamwork.
- Trying to diagnose or act beyond the role given in the station.
