About the role
This interview tests whether you can turn resource and operational information into a mine plan that crews can actually execute. The panel will probe your design checks, scheduling logic, treatment of constraints and response to variance. Strong answers make the trade-offs between safety, grade, movement, cost and future access explicit.
How to prepare
- Review the design inputs and sign-offs needed before a short-term mine plan is released.
- Prepare an example of a schedule changed because of fleet, access, geotechnical or processing constraints.
- Revise production reconciliation and how you distinguish a planning assumption from an execution problem.
- Practise explaining schedule trade-offs using clear operational measures rather than software steps alone.
- Think through how you control versions and communicate a revised plan across shifts.
Common mistakes
- Presenting a schedule without testing fleet capacity, access or dependencies.
- Optimising short-term ore delivery while ignoring stripping, development or future access.
- Explaining only software commands instead of the engineering judgement behind the plan.
