About this interview
A one-way video interview asks you to record answers to questions shown on screen, without an interviewer present. Reviewers look for relevant evidence, direct answers and a professional delivery that remains natural under a fixed preparation and response time.
How to prepare
- Check the platform instructions so you understand the preparation time, answer limit and retake rules.
- Prepare varied examples of teamwork, judgement, setbacks and results using a simple situation, action and outcome structure.
- Practise looking towards the camera while speaking in complete, concise sentences.
- Test your camera, microphone, lighting, connection and background before starting.
- Rehearse with a timer so your strongest evidence is not left until the end.
Common mistakes
- Reading a script and losing a natural speaking rhythm.
- Watching your own image instead of looking towards the camera.
- Using the same example for every behavioural question.
- Spending most of the time on background and rushing the actions or result.
