About the role
This interview covers the day-to-day work of keeping a packaging line safe, correctly set and productive. The panel wants to hear how you handle changeovers, spot defects, clear simple faults and protect product quality without bypassing controls.
How to prepare
- Revise the normal start-up, shutdown and changeover sequence for packaging equipment you know.
- Prepare an example of tracing a recurring jam or poor seal to its likely cause.
- Review checks for labels, date codes, seals, weights and damaged packs.
- Practise explaining when you can adjust a machine and when maintenance must take over.
- Think through how you would keep the area orderly during a rushed changeover.
Common mistakes
- Describing a jam clearance without first stopping and securing the equipment.
- Focusing only on output while ignoring coding, sealing or label defects.
- Claiming repairs beyond your training instead of explaining a sensible escalation.
