About the role
This interview tests the careful administration of life insurance policies after an application is received and throughout the policy term. The panel wants accurate data handling, clear communication and reliable follow-up on payments and service requests. They will also expect you to respect controls around changes to sensitive policy records.
How to prepare
- Review the basic life policy journey from proposal and underwriting to issue and ongoing servicing.
- Learn the purpose of premium allocation, beneficiary records, policy status and endorsements.
- Prepare an example of checking an instruction before changing an important record.
- Practise explaining why a request is pending without blaming another team.
- Think through how you would track several incomplete requests and follow them to closure.
Common mistakes
- Changing a sensitive policy field without a complete and validated instruction.
- Assuming a received payment has been allocated to the correct policy.
- Giving a customer a final answer when another team still needs to approve the request.
- Allowing pending items to sit without an owner, note or follow-up date.
