About the award
This is a competitive scholarship interview for applicants who want postgraduate training in public policy. The panel tests whether you can analyse evidence, recognise distributional trade-offs, work across competing interests and use the degree for a credible public contribution.
How to prepare
- Read the official scholarship site for current criteria, required documents and dates.
- Choose a public problem and separate its symptoms, causes, affected groups and available evidence.
- Compare at least two policy responses, including implementation risks and unintended effects.
- Prepare leadership examples that make your own decisions, conduct and results clear.
- Link specific course content to the policy work you intend to do after graduation.
Common mistakes
- Giving a passionate policy opinion without testing causes or alternative explanations.
- Ignoring groups who could bear the cost of your preferred policy.
- Presenting leadership as a job title rather than a decision you owned.
- Describing postgraduate study as the goal instead of a means to better policy work.
