About the role
This interview tests how you diagnose and improve day-to-day well performance within real facility and integrity constraints. The panel wants structured analysis, practical knowledge of artificial lift and evidence that your recommendations produced stable gains without transferring risk elsewhere.
How to prepare
- Review inflow and outflow performance, nodal analysis and common well constraints.
- Prepare troubleshooting examples for declining rate, unstable flow and artificial-lift problems.
- Practise prioritising optimisation opportunities when compression, separation or water handling is constrained.
- Choose an example where integrity limits changed the technically possible operating point.
- Be ready to describe how you verified that a production gain persisted.
Common mistakes
- Recommending a choke or lift change before identifying the governing constraint.
- Claiming an increase without separating intervention impact from normal well variation.
- Ignoring separator, compressor, water-handling or flowline limits.
- Treating integrity restrictions as targets to work around rather than firm boundaries.
