About the role
This interview tests whether you can create a practical production plan and keep it current when conditions change. The panel will look for sound use of capacity, inventory and ERP data, along with clear decisions when customer priorities compete for limited resources.
How to prepare
- Practise explaining how you convert demand into weekly and daily schedules.
- Prepare an example of replanning after a breakdown, shortage or power interruption.
- Review capacity loading, changeover time, safety stock and work in progress controls.
- Be ready to explain the ERP transactions and planning reports you use.
- Think through how you communicate a missed plan and agree a recovery date.
Common mistakes
- Treating the forecast as fixed instead of checking confirmed orders and current constraints.
- Scheduling every machine at full capacity without allowing for changeovers or maintenance.
- Changing priorities without telling procurement, production and customer-facing teams.
