About the role
This interview tests whether you can protect piping and welding quality from material receipt through testing and handover. The panel will look for command of inspection planning, traceability, procedure compliance, defect control and the confidence to hold a requirement when schedule pressure rises.
How to prepare
- Review the sequence of checks for materials, fit-up, welding, examination and pressure testing.
- Prepare an example of finding a repeated defect and tracing it to the real cause.
- Practise explaining how you confirm that a welding procedure and welder are suitable for the joint.
- Think through how you manage inspection hold points when work is behind schedule.
- Prepare an example of resolving a quality disagreement with construction or a client inspector.
Common mistakes
- Describing inspection as a final check instead of control throughout fabrication.
- Accepting verbal assurance where material or weld traceability is incomplete.
- Closing a non-conformance without verifying that the corrective action worked.
