About the role
This internship interview tests whether you can work carefully with reservoir data and explain the basis of a simple estimate. The panel is not expecting senior judgement, but it will look for sound fundamentals, clean calculations, honest treatment of uncertainty and readiness to learn from review.
How to prepare
- Revise porosity, permeability, saturation, pressure behaviour, fluid properties and reservoir drive mechanisms.
- Practise a volumetric estimate with consistent units and a written list of assumptions.
- Prepare to explain how you would clean, plot and sense-check a small reservoir dataset in Excel.
- Choose a subsurface assignment and identify where its largest uncertainty came from.
- Rehearse asking a supervisor a precise question when an input or method is unclear.
Common mistakes
- Reporting a single estimate without its units, basis or uncertainty.
- Forcing inconsistent pressure data into an analysis without checking test conditions.
- Pretending to know unfamiliar software or methods instead of explaining how you would learn.
