About the role
This interview examines how you prevent harm and respond when a safeguarding concern arises in a faith-based organisation. The panel is looking for calm judgement, survivor-centred practice, secure information handling, practical risk controls and the confidence to uphold procedure regardless of status.
How to prepare
- Review the sequence from receiving a concern to recording, reporting and referral under an organisation's policy.
- Prepare an example of identifying and reducing risk in an activity involving children or adults at risk.
- Think about how you distinguish fact, observation and opinion in case notes.
- Prepare an example of challenging unsafe practice with a more senior colleague or volunteer.
- Plan how you would make safeguarding training practical for staff with different responsibilities.
Common mistakes
- Promising secrecy when information may need to be shared for safety.
- Starting your own investigation instead of preserving facts and following procedure.
- Allowing a person's seniority or reputation to affect the reporting decision.
- Giving policy language without explaining the immediate practical steps.
