About the role
This interview tests senior dietetic judgement for patients whose nutrition needs, clinical risks and daily circumstances do not fit a simple meal plan. The panel wants safe assessment, realistic recommendations, useful monitoring and confident contribution to multidisciplinary decisions.
How to prepare
- Review how you assess malnutrition risk and identify patients who need cautious feeding.
- Prepare a case where you adapted advice to the patient's culture, budget or access to food.
- Think through how you measure progress when body weight does not tell the whole story.
- Check the official professional body for current practising licence and scope requirements.
- Be ready to explain a respectful disagreement with another member of the clinical team.
Common mistakes
- Giving a generic food list without using the patient's clinical and social information.
- Focusing only on weight while ignoring intake, function and tolerance.
- Presenting ideal recommendations without checking whether the patient can follow them.
