About the role
This interview tests whether you can run a disciplined security shift while making sound decisions when conditions change. The panel will look for practical command of patrols and access control, calm incident leadership, fair supervision and records that another team can act on.
How to prepare
- Map out how you would deploy a small team across gates, patrol routes and vulnerable areas.
- Prepare an example of an incident where you had to protect people, preserve evidence and escalate quickly.
- Review how you brief officers, inspect posts and correct weak performance during a shift.
- Practise giving a concise handover that separates confirmed facts, actions taken and outstanding risks.
- Think through how power cuts, poor radio coverage or staff shortages would change your deployment.
Common mistakes
- Giving orders without explaining how you would check that officers follow them.
- Treating every incident as a physical confrontation instead of controlling risk and calling the right support.
- Writing reports that mix assumptions with verified facts.
- Ignoring the welfare and fatigue of officers when changing a deployment.
