About the award
A startup accelerator interview decides which early-stage companies join a programme of mentoring, investment and support. The panel looks at the problem you solve and for whom, your product and early traction, your founding team, the size of the market and how you plan to grow, and whether you take feedback well.
How to prepare
- Describe your customer and their problem in one or two sentences with a real example.
- Know your key numbers cold, such as users, revenue, growth rate and costs.
- Be ready to explain why your team is the right one to build this.
- Prepare an honest answer on your biggest risk and what you are doing about it.
- Decide what you want from the accelerator beyond money, such as introductions or skills.
Common mistakes
- Claiming you have no competitors, which tells the panel you have not looked.
- Arguing with feedback instead of showing you can listen and adapt.
- Inflating numbers that fall apart under follow-up.
