About this interview
This interview combines motivation and experience questions with a business case for entry-level strategy consulting. The interviewer looks for clean problem structure, accurate commercial reasoning, concise synthesis and the judgement to collaborate with clients when evidence or priorities are contested.
How to prepare
- Practise structuring profitability, growth, market entry and operational improvement cases.
- Build speed and accuracy with percentages, ratios, break-even logic and interpretation of simple charts.
- State a hypothesis, request relevant information and update your view when new evidence appears.
- Prepare examples of solving an ambiguous problem and changing your approach after useful criticism.
- Practise ending a case with a recommendation, supporting reasons, risks and next steps.
Common mistakes
- Reciting a memorised framework without adapting it to the client's actual question.
- Performing calculations without explaining what the result means commercially.
- Waiting for perfect information instead of making a qualified recommendation.
