About the role
This is a commercial relationship interview for someone managing third-party sellers or brands on a marketplace. The panel wants to see structured account planning, credible negotiation, confident use of performance measures and calm ownership of vendor issues that cross several internal teams.
How to prepare
- Prepare an account plan that links a vendor's assortment, availability, pricing and promotion opportunities.
- Review how order acceptance, cancellation, fulfilment, returns and settlement issues affect a vendor relationship.
- Choose a negotiation example and separate your target, tradeable points and walk-away position.
- Think of a vendor whose performance improved because you set clear actions and followed them through.
- Prepare an example of resolving an issue that required help from finance or operations.
Common mistakes
- Confusing relationship building with agreeing to every vendor request.
- Quoting account measures without showing what action followed.
- Escalating routine issues without first defining the owner and next step.
- Making promises to vendors before checking internal constraints.
