About the role
This interview tests practical judgement across airframe and powerplant maintenance. The panel is looking for methodical diagnosis, correct use of approved data, strong configuration and tool control, accurate records and a clear understanding of when work is ready for certification.
How to prepare
- Review inspection and fault-finding methods for structures, flight controls, engines and related mechanical systems.
- Prepare examples of a repeat defect, a difficult maintenance handover and a decision to stop work.
- Revise contamination control, torque practices, tool control and independent inspection requirements.
- Practise explaining how you determine whether damage is within limits without relying on memory.
- Check the official aviation authority for current licence privileges and continuation requirements.
Common mistakes
- Jumping to component replacement before confirming the fault and related causes.
- Using remembered limits instead of the current approved maintenance data.
- Accepting an incomplete handover or unclear aircraft configuration.
- Allowing schedule pressure to influence an airworthiness or certification decision.
