About the role
This interview examines how you approach avionics defects at the start of your aircraft maintenance career. The panel is looking for methodical fault isolation, safe use of tools and approved data, accurate records and the judgement to seek authorised support when needed.
How to prepare
- Revise basic aircraft electrical distribution, digital systems, sensors and common test equipment.
- Practise tracing a simple fault through a wiring diagram and explaining each decision.
- Review precautions for electrical isolation, electrostatic discharge and foreign object control.
- Prepare an example of a technical fault you investigated during training or supervised work.
- Check the relevant official aviation authority for current licensing and authorisation rules.
Common mistakes
- Replacing components without first using evidence to isolate the fault.
- Treating an intermittent defect as cleared because it cannot be reproduced once.
- Working from memory when approved maintenance data should be consulted.
- Using vague record entries that do not show tests, findings and actions.
