About the award
An angel investment pitch is a direct conversation with an individual investing their own capital in an early business. The investor tests whether the opportunity is attractive, whether the numbers hold together and whether the founder can make sound decisions with limited resources. Expect close questions on traction, risks, the funding ask and the working relationship after investment.
How to prepare
- Reduce your customer problem, solution and advantage to a short opening that does not depend on jargon.
- Check every traction figure against its source and distinguish paying customers from trials or expressions of interest.
- Model how customer acquisition, pricing, gross margin and cash needs change under a cautious growth case.
- Decide the amount, proposed terms, use of funds and milestones you can defend in a negotiation.
- Prepare honest answers on competition, founder gaps, regulatory exposure and the assumptions most likely to fail.
Common mistakes
- Calling interest or downloads traction without showing whether customers stay or pay.
- Giving a valuation or funding ask that is disconnected from milestones and evidence.
- Avoiding difficult questions instead of acknowledging uncertainty and explaining the next test.
- Reading crowded slides when the investor wants a clear conversation with the founder.
