About the award
This final gives judges a close look at a startup before they choose a competition winner. They assess the importance of the customer problem, evidence of demand, the economics of the business, the team's priorities and how well the founder responds when assumptions are challenged.
How to prepare
- Reduce the customer problem and solution to a clear opening that fits the pitch time.
- Check every traction claim against evidence and be ready to explain how it was measured.
- Rehearse the links between pricing, direct costs, margin and cash needs in your financial model.
- Choose a small number of milestones that the competition support can realistically advance.
- Ask someone unfamiliar with the startup to challenge the weakest assumptions in your pitch deck.
Common mistakes
- Describing a broad market without identifying the first customer group.
- Presenting revenue projections that do not follow from the stated assumptions.
- Listing many uses for the support without ranking the immediate priorities.
- Answering a difficult question with another version of the prepared pitch.
