About the programme
This interview uses your portfolio to explore how you observe places, develop ideas and learn through making. The panel is interested in your process, not only polished final images, and may ask how climate, users, materials, structure and feedback influenced your decisions.
How to prepare
- Edit your portfolio so every included piece has a clear reason for being there.
- Practise explaining the brief, process, alternatives and lessons behind each project.
- Review your sketchbook for pages that show observation, iteration and failed ideas.
- Observe a familiar building and note circulation, shade, ventilation, materials and user behaviour.
- Prepare to discuss criticism calmly and identify a sensible next version of a project.
Common mistakes
- Presenting only polished images and hiding the thinking that produced them.
- Claiming group work as entirely your own instead of stating your contribution.
- Describing a design only by its visual style and ignoring users, climate or construction.
- Defending every choice immediately instead of listening to the panel's critique.
