About the role
This interview focuses on practical aviation safety management rather than slogans or compliance alone. The panel wants to see how you assess operational risk, investigate fairly, verify corrective action and build reporting confidence among front-line teams.
How to prepare
- Review the relationship between safety policy, risk management, assurance and safety promotion.
- Prepare a hazard assessment that shows the hazard, consequences, existing controls, further actions and owners.
- Think through how you preserve evidence and interview people after an operational occurrence.
- Prepare an example of checking whether a corrective action changed behaviour or reduced exposure.
- Check the official aviation authority and your operator's current procedures before discussing mandatory reporting or licence rules.
Common mistakes
- Treating the person involved as the root cause without examining system conditions.
- Using a risk matrix mechanically without explaining credible consequences and controls.
- Closing an action when paperwork is complete but operational effectiveness is unknown.
- Presenting a confidential report without removing identifying or sensitive details.
