About the role
This interview tests whether you can lead risk as an independent executive while remaining close to how a fintech actually operates. The panel will expect you to connect strategy with credit, liquidity, fraud, technology, operational and third-party exposure. Strong answers make uncertainty visible, define decisions clearly and show how the board receives credible assurance.
How to prepare
- Prepare an example of reshaping risk appetite after a material change in strategy or exposure.
- Review how risk limits, early warning indicators, stress scenarios and escalation should work together.
- Practise explaining interconnected risks without losing the main decision the board must make.
- Think through how you would assess risk culture beyond policies and training completion.
- Prepare a case where you strengthened an independent risk team while keeping business ownership clear.
Common mistakes
- Listing separate risk categories without showing how they combine in a real event.
- Using a large dashboard instead of identifying the few decisions leaders must make.
- Describing independence as distance from product, operations and customers.
- Talking about culture only in terms of policies, training and disciplinary action.
