About the role
This interview tests whether you can move staff and visitors safely, reliably and professionally. The panel will look for sound judgement on the road, consistent vehicle checks, sensible route planning and respectful passenger care.
How to prepare
- Revise the sequence of checks you make before and after every journey.
- Prepare an example of adjusting a route because of traffic, flooding or a road closure.
- Think through how you would report a fault and decide whether a vehicle is safe to move.
- Practise explaining how you stay calm around impatient or unsafe road users.
- Review how you record mileage, fuel use, journeys and incidents accurately.
Common mistakes
- Claiming that speed is more important than passenger safety.
- Treating warning lights or unusual vehicle sounds as minor issues.
- Giving vague answers about routes, logs or communication during delays.
- Sharing details of passengers or conversations that should remain confidential.
